§ 2-205. Appointments; probationary service; termination during probation.

  • (a)

    At such time as a position of employment within the classified civil service of the city is to be filled, the commission shall be directed to take the necessary procedures to administer the proper testing for employment to the described position. It shall then be the duty of the commission to provide the mayor and council, as soon as may be practicable, a list of all eligible candidates for the position.

    (b)

    Any person employed by the city in a position in the classified civil service shall serve a probationary period of employment not exceeding 30 calendar days immediately upon initial appointment.

    (c)

    Any employee's employment may be terminated without cause during such probationary period, and any employee so terminated shall be entitled only to such compensation or benefits which have accrued at the time of such termination.
