§ 2-202. Examination of applicants for employment generally.

  • (a)

    All applicants for positions of employment in the classified civil service of the city shall be subject to examination.

    (b)

    All such examinations shall be open and public and shall be competitive. They may be subject to specified limits determined by age, health, physical disability, moral character and criminal background, but any limitations so specified for any position of employment shall be made public prior to administration of any examination for such position.

    (c)

    Examinations shall be practical in character, shall relate to matters that will fairly test the relative capacity of the applicant to perform the duties of the position for which application is made and may include tests of physical qualifications, health and manual skills.

    (d)

    No questions in any examination shall relate to political or religious opinions or affiliations.
