§ 2-65. Procedure on passage of ordinance.

  • Every ordinance, excepting ordinances granting a variation in the strict application of Zoning Ordinance No. 234, passed and approved August 2, 1971, as amended, shall receive at least two separate readings and no ordinance, except as otherwise provided, shall be finally passed at the same session of the council at which it was first read, unless the council by a vote of four-fifths of the members present suspends this rule for that special purpose. Any ordinance granting a variation in the strict application of the provisions of said zoning ordinance may be passed after a single reading and at the same session of the council at which such single reading takes place.
