§ 2-2. Voting districts.

  • The voting districts of the city are hereby established as follows:

    District one. Beginning at the point of intersection of the centerlines of Poplar and Sixth Streets in the city; thence southerly along the centerline of Poplar Street to the south line of First Street; thence easterly along the south line of First Street to the west line of Walnut Street; thence southerly along the west line of Walnut Street extended to the point of intersection of said line as produced with the middle of the Wabash River; thence northeasterly along the middle of the Wabash River to the intersection of said middle line with the bridge of the Southern Railway Company across said river; thence northerly along the westerly line of said bridge and the westerly line of the right-of-way of said Southern Railway Company to the point of intersection with the extended centerline of Market Street; thence northerly along the centerline of Market Street to the intersection of the centerlines of Market and Sixth Streets; thence westerly along the centerline of Sixth Street to the centerline of Poplar Street, which is the point of beginning.

    District two. Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of Sixth and Market Streets; thence southerly on the centerline of Market Street and the prolongation thereof to the west line of the right-of-way of the Southern Railway Company; thence southeasterly along the west line of said railroad right-of-way and the bridge of said railway company across the Wabash River to the middle of the Wabash River; thence northeasterly along the middle of the Wabash River to the intersection of the north line of Fifth Street produced; thence westerly on said north line of Fifth Street produced and the north line of Fifth Street to the southeast corner of lot no. 3 of the north half of section 21, township 1 south, range 12 west; thence northerly to the northeast corner of said lot no. 3; thence westerly along the north line of said lot no. 3 and the north lines of outlots 184, 176, 175 and 158 and the centerline of Sixth Street to the centerline of Market Street, the place of beginning.
